¹² The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the property that falls to me.’ So he divided his estate between them.

¹³ “Not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together, and journeyed to a distant country, and there squandered his possessions in prodigal living. ¹⁴ When he had spent everything, there came a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in want.
